Pyramid Mahjong table: 80 tiles
A tidy pyramid: a wide base five rows deep, a block of three rows on top of it and a small cap in the middle. The shape is easy to read at a glance, which makes it a good step up from Starter.
Pyramid at a glance
- Tiles: 80 (40 pairs to match)
- Size: Small table (up to 88 tiles)
- Layers: 3, with 50, 24, 6 tiles from the bottom layer to the top
- Footprint: 10 tiles across and 5 deep
How it plays
50 of the 80 tiles sit on the bottom layer, and 30 are stacked above them; the top layer holds 6 tiles. Tiles you can see but cannot pick are underneath others, so the stacks are where the planning is. Every game is dealt so it can be finished, and you have hints, unlimited undo and a shuffle if you get stuck.
