How to play FreeCell
FreeCell is a thinking game: every card is face up, and almost every deal can be won. Sort all 52 cards into four piles, one for each suit.
The goal
Send all the cards home to the four piles at the top right, from Ace up to King in each suit.
How it works
- Build down the eight columns in alternating colors: a red 6 goes on a black 7.
- Tap a card and it jumps to its best spot. If nothing fits, it can wait in one of the four free cells at the top left. Each cell holds one card.
- Aces go home to the top right first, then 2, 3, 4 and up, one suit in each pile. Cards that are safe to send home go by themselves.
- You can move several cards at once when you have free cells or empty columns to spare. The more you have, the more cards you can move.
Friendly tips
- Try not to fill all four free cells. Empty cells and columns are your most useful tools.
- Look for the low cards, like Aces and 2s, buried in the columns and dig them out early.
- Before you move, think one step ahead: will this card be in the way later?
- Stuck? Hint shows a good move, and Undo takes back as many moves as you like.
